1. "You are children of the LORD, your God. You shall not gash yourselves nor shave the hair above your foreheads for the dead.
1. Ye H859 are the children H1121 of the LORD H3068 your God H430 : ye shall not H3808 cut yourselves H1413 , nor H3808 make H7760 any baldness H7144 between H996 your eyes H5869 for the dead H4191 .
2. For you are a people sacred to the LORD, your God, who has chosen you from all the nations on the face of the earth to be a people peculiarly his own.
2. For H3588 thou H859 art a holy H6918 people H5971 unto the LORD H3068 thy God H430 , and the LORD H3068 hath chosen H977 thee to be H1961 a peculiar H5459 people H5971 unto himself , above all H4480 H3605 the nations H5971 that H834 are upon H5921 H6440 the earth H127 .
3. "You shall not eat any abominable thing.
3. Thou shalt not H3808 eat H398 any H3605 abominable thing H8441 .
4. These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,
4. These H2063 are the beasts H929 which H834 ye shall eat H398 : the ox H7794 , the sheep H7716 H3775 , and the goat H7716 H5795 ,
5. the red deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the ibex, the addax, the oryx, and the mountain sheep.
5. The hart H354 , and the roebuck H6643 , and the fallow deer H3180 , and the wild goat H689 , and the pygarg H1788 , and the wild ox H8377 , and the chamois H2169 .
6. Any animal that has hoofs you may eat, provided it is cloven-footed and chews the cud.
6. And every H3605 beast H929 that parteth H6536 the hoof H6541 , and cleaveth H8156 the cleft H8157 into two H8147 claws H6541 , and cheweth H5927 the cud H1625 among the beasts H929 , that ye shall eat H398 .
7. But you shall not eat any of the following that only chew the cud or only have cloven hoofs: the camel, the hare and the rock badger, which indeed chew the cud, but do not have hoofs and are therefore unclean for you;
7. Nevertheless H389 H853 these H2088 ye shall not H3808 eat H398 of them that chew H4480 H5927 the cud H1625 , or of them that divide H4480 H6536 the cloven H8156 hoof H6541 ; as H853 the camel H1581 , and the hare H768 , and the coney H8227 : for H3588 they H1992 chew H5927 the cud H1625 , but divide H6536 not H3808 the hoof H6541 ; therefore they H1992 are unclean H2931 unto you.
8. and the pig, which indeed has hoofs and is cloven-footed, but does not chew the cud and is therefore unclean for you. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their dead bodies you shall not touch.
8. And the swine H2386 , because H3588 it H1931 divideth H6536 the hoof H6541 , yet cheweth not H3808 the cud H1625 , it H1931 is unclean H2931 unto you : ye shall not H3808 eat H398 of their flesh H4480 H1320 , nor H3808 touch H5060 their dead carcass H5038 .
9. "Of the various creatures that live in the water, whatever has both fins and scales you may eat,
9. H853 These H2088 ye shall eat H398 of all H4480 H3605 that H834 are in the waters H4325 : all H3605 that H834 have fins H5579 and scales H7193 shall ye eat H398 :
10. but all those that lack either fins or scales you shall not eat; they are unclean for you.
10. And whatsoever H3605 H834 hath not H369 fins H5579 and scales H7193 ye may not H3808 eat H398 ; it H1931 is unclean H2931 unto you.
11. "You may eat all clean birds.
11. Of all H3605 clean H2889 birds H6833 ye shall eat H398 .
12. But you shall not eat any of the following: the eagle, the vulture, the osprey,

13. the various kites and falcons,
13. And the glede H7201 , and the kite H344 , and the vulture H1772 after his kind H4327 ,
14. all the various species of crows,

15. the ostrich, the nightjar, the gull, the various species of hawks,
15. And the owl H1323 H3284 , and the night hawk H8464 , and the cuckoo H7828 , and the hawk H5322 after his kind H4327 ,
16. the owl, the screech owl, the ibis,
16. H853 The little owl H3563 , and the great owl H3244 , and the swan H8580 ,
17. the desert owl, the buzzard, the cormorant,
17. And the pelican H6893 , and the gier H7360 -eagle , and the cormorant H7994 ,
18. the stork, the various species of herons, the hoopoe, and the bat.
18. And the stork H2624 , and the heron H601 after her kind H4327 , and the lapwing H1744 , and the bat H5847 .
19. All winged insects, too, are unclean for you and shall not be eaten.
19. And every H3605 creeping thing H8318 that flieth H5775 is unclean H2931 unto you : they shall not H3808 be eaten H398 .
20. But you may eat any clean winged creatures.
20. But of all H3605 clean H2889 fowls H5775 ye may eat H398 .
21. "You must not eat any animal that has died of itself, for you are a people sacred to the LORD, your God. But you may give it to an alien who belongs to your community, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. "You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk.
21. Ye shall not H3808 eat H398 of any H3605 thing that dieth of itself H5038 : thou shalt give H5414 it unto the stranger H1616 that H834 is in thy gates H8179 , that he may eat H398 it; or H176 thou mayest sell H4376 it unto an alien H5237 : for H3588 thou H859 art a holy H6918 people H5971 unto the LORD H3068 thy God H430 . Thou shalt not H3808 seethe H1310 a kid H1423 in his mother H517 's milk H2461 .
22. "Each year you shall tithe all the produce that grows in the field you have sown;
22. Thou shalt truly tithe H6237 H6237 H853 all H3605 the increase H8393 of thy seed H2233 , that the field H7704 bringeth forth H3318 year H8141 by year H8141 .
23. then in the place which the LORD, your God, chooses as the dwelling place of his name you shall eat in his presence your tithe of the grain, wine and oil, as well as the firstlings of your herd and flock, that you may learn always to fear the LORD, your God.
23. And thou shalt eat H398 before H6440 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 , in the place H4725 which H834 he shall choose H977 to place H7931 his name H8034 there H8033 , the tithe H4643 of thy corn H1715 , of thy wine H8492 , and of thine oil H3323 , and the firstlings H1062 of thy herds H1241 and of thy flocks H6629 ; that H4616 thou mayest learn H3925 to fear H3372 H853 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 always H3605 H3117 .
24. If, however, the journey is too much for you and you are not able to bring your tithe, because the place which the LORD, your God, chooses for the abode of his name is too far for you, considering how the LORD has blessed you,
24. And if H3588 the way H1870 be too long H7235 for H4480 thee , so that H3588 thou art not able H3201 H3808 to carry H5375 it; or if H3588 the place H4725 be too far H7368 from H4480 thee, which H834 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 shall choose H977 to set H7760 his name H8034 there H8033 , when H3588 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 hath blessed H1288 thee:
25. you may exchange the tithe for money and, with the purse of money in hand, go to the place which the LORD, your God, chooses.
25. Then shalt thou turn H5414 it into money H3701 , and bind up H6696 the money H3701 in thine hand H3027 , and shalt go H1980 unto H413 the place H4725 which H834 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 shall choose H977 :
26. You may then exchange the money for whatever you desire, oxen or sheep, wine or strong drink, or anything else you would enjoy, and there before the LORD, your God, you shall partake of it and make merry with your family.
26. And thou shalt bestow H5414 that money H3701 for whatsoever H3605 H834 thy soul H5315 lusteth after H183 , for oxen H1241 , or for sheep H6629 , or for wine H3196 , or for strong drink H7941 , or for whatsoever H3605 H834 thy soul H5315 desireth H7592 : and thou shalt eat H398 there H8033 before H6440 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 , and thou shalt rejoice H8055 , thou H859 , and thine household H1004 ,
27. But do not neglect the Levite who belongs to your community, for he has no share in the heritage with you.
27. And the Levite H3881 that H834 is within thy gates H8179 ; thou shalt not H3808 forsake H5800 him; for H3588 he hath no H369 part H2506 nor inheritance H5159 with H5973 thee.
28. "At the end of every third year you shall bring out all the tithes of your produce for that year and deposit them in community stores,
28. At the end H4480 H7097 of three H7969 years H8141 thou shalt bring forth H3318 H853 all H3605 the tithe H4643 of thine increase H8393 the same H1931 year H8141 , and shalt lay it up H5117 within thy gates H8179 :
29. that the Levite who has no share in the heritage with you, and also the alien, the orphan and the widow who belong to your community, may come and eat their fill; so that the LORD, your God, may bless you in all that you undertake.
29. And the Levite H3881 , ( because H3588 he hath no H369 part H2506 nor inheritance H5159 with H5973 thee,) and the stranger H1616 , and the fatherless H3490 , and the widow H490 , which H834 are within thy gates H8179 , shall come H935 , and shall eat H398 and be satisfied H7646 ; that H4616 the LORD H3068 thy God H430 may bless H1288 thee in all H3605 the work H4639 of thine hand H3027 which H834 thou doest H6213 .
