1. The Word of the Lord about Israel: The Lord, Who spread out the heavens, who put the earth in its place, and made the spirit of man within him says this about Israel:

1. The burden H4853 of the word H1697 of the LORD H3068 for H5921 Israel H3478 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 , which stretcheth forth H5186 the heavens H8064 , and layeth the foundation H3245 of the earth H776 , and formeth H3335 the spirit H7307 of man H120 within H7130 him.

2. "I am going to make Jerusalem like a cup that makes all the people around it seem to be drunk. Judah will be shut in by armies as well as Jerusalem.

2. Behold H2009 , I H595 will make H7760 H853 Jerusalem H3389 a cup H5592 of trembling H7478 unto all H3605 the people H5971 round about H5439 , when they shall be H1961 in the siege H4692 both H1571 against H5921 Judah H3063 and against H5921 Jerusalem H3389 .

3. On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the people. All who lift it will be hurt. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.

And in that H1931 day H3117 will I make H7760 H853 Jerusalem H3389 a burdensome H4614 stone H68 for all H3605 people H5971 : all H3605 that burden H6006 themselves with it shall be cut in pieces H8295 H8295 , though all H3605 the people H1471 of the earth H776 be gathered together H622 against H5921 it.

4. On that day," says the Lord, "I will put fear in every horse, and make the horsemen crazy. But I will watch over the people of Judah, while I make every horse of the nations blind.

In that H1931 day H3117 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 , I will smite H5221 every H3605 horse H5483 with astonishment H8541 , and his rider H7392 with madness H7697 : and I will open H6491 H853 mine eyes H5869 upon H5921 the house H1004 of Judah H3063 , and will smite H5221 every H3605 horse H5483 of the people H5971 with blindness H5788 .

5. Then the leaders of Judah will say in their hearts, 'The people of Jerusalem are strong because of the Lord of All, their God.'

5. And the governors H441 of Judah H3063 shall say H559 in their heart H3820 , The inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem H3389 shall be my strength H556 in the LORD H3068 of hosts H6635 their God H430 .

6. On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a pot of fire among pieces of wood, like fire among cut grain. They will destroy all the people around them, on the right and on the left. And the people of Jerusalem will again live on their own land in Jerusalem.

In that H1931 day H3117 will I make H7760 H853 the governors H441 of Judah H3063 like a hearth H3595 of fire H784 among the wood H6086 , and like a torch H3940 of fire H784 in a sheaf H5995 ; and they shall devour H398 H853 all H3605 the people H5971 round about H5439 , on H5921 the right hand H3225 and on H5921 the left H8040 : and Jerusalem H3389 shall be inhabited H3427 again H5750 in her own place H8478 , even in Jerusalem H3389 .

7. The Lord will save the tents of Judah first, so that the shining-greatness of the family of David and of the people of Jerusalem may not be greater than that of Judah.

7. The LORD H3068 also shall save H3467 H853 the tents H168 of Judah H3063 first H7223 , that H4616 the glory H8597 of the house H1004 of David H1732 and the glory H8597 of the inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem H3389 do not H3808 magnify H1431 themselves against H5921 Judah H3063 .

8. On that day the Lord will fight for the people of Jerusalem. The one who is weak among them on that day will be like David. And the family of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord leading them.

8. In that H1931 day H3117 shall the LORD H3068 defend H1598 H1157 the inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem H3389 ; and he that is feeble H3782 among them at that H1931 day H3117 shall be H1961 as David H1732 ; and the house H1004 of David H1732 shall be as God H430 , as the angel H4397 of the LORD H3068 before H6440 them.

9. On that day I will destroy every nation that comes against Jerusalem.
|
9. And it shall come to pass H1961 in that H1931 day H3117 , that I will seek H1245 to destroy H8045 H853 all H3605 the nations H1471 that come H935 against H5921 Jerusalem H3389 .

|
10. "I will pour out the Spirit of loving-favor and prayer on the family of David and on those who live in Jerusalem. They will look on Him Whose side they cut. They will cry in sorrow for Him, as one cries for an only son. They will cry much over Him, like those who have lost their first-born son.
|
10. And I will pour H8210 upon H5921 the house H1004 of David H1732 , and upon H5921 the inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem H3389 , the spirit H7307 of grace H2580 and of supplications H8469 : and they shall look H5027 upon H413 me H853 whom H834 they have pierced H1856 , and they shall mourn H5594 for H5921 him , as one mourneth H4553 for H5921 his only H3173 son , and shall be in bitterness H4843 for H5921 him , as one that is in bitterness H4843 for H5921 his firstborn H1060 .

11. On that day there will be much crying in Jerusalem, like the cries of Hadadrimmon in the plain of Megiddo.

11. In that H1931 day H3117 shall there be a great H1431 mourning H4553 in Jerusalem H3389 , as the mourning H4553 of Hadadrimmon H1910 in the valley H1237 of Megiddon H4023 .

|
12. The land will be filled with sorrow, each family by itself. The families of David and their wives, and the family of Nathan and their wives, will each be filled with sorrow.
|
12. And the land H776 shall mourn H5594 , every family H4940 H4940 apart H905 ; the family H4940 of the house H1004 of David H1732 apart H905 , and their wives H802 apart H905 ; the family H4940 of the house H1004 of Nathan H5416 apart H905 , and their wives H802 apart H905 ;

13. The family of Levi and their wives will cry in sorrow, and the family of the Shimeites and their wives,
|
13. The family H4940 of the house H1004 of Levi H3878 apart H905 , and their wives H802 apart H905 ; the family H4940 of Shimei H8097 apart H905 , and their wives H802 apart H905 ;
|
|
14. and all the families that are left, and their wives.
|
14. All H3605 the families H4940 that remain H7604 , every family H4940 H4940 apart H905 , and their wives H802 apart H905 .
