Matthew 9:36
36
But
when
he
saw
the
multitudes,
he
was
moved
with
compassion
on
them,
because
they
fainted,
and
were
scattered
abroad,
as

1
At
that
time
Herod
the
tetrarch
heard
of
the
fame
of
Jesus,
2
And
said
unto
his
servants,
This
is
John
the
Baptist;
he
is
risen
from
the
dead;
and
therefore
mighty
works
do
shew
forth
themselves
in
him.
3
For
Herod
had
laid
hold
on
John,
and
bound
him,
and
put
him
in
prison
for
Herodias’
sake,
his
brother
Philip’s
wife.
4
For
John
said
unto
him,
It
is
not
lawful
for
thee
to
have
her.
5
And
when
he
would
have
put
him
to
death,
he
feared
the
multitude,
because
they
counted
him
as
a
prophet.
6
But
when
Herod’s
birthday
was
kept,
the
daughter
of
Herodias
danced
before
them,
and
pleased
Herod.
7
Whereupon
he
promised
with
an
oath
to
give
her
whatsoever
she
would
ask.
8
And
she,
being
before
instructed
of
her
mother,
said,
Give
me
here
John
Baptist’s
head
in
a
charger.
9
And
the
king
was
sorry:
nevertheless
for
the
oath’s
sake,
and
them
which
sat
with
him
at
meat,
he
commanded
it
to
be
given
her.
10
And
he
sent,
and
beheaded
John
in
the
prison.
11
And
his
head
was
brought
in
a
charger,
and
given
to
the
damsel:
and
she
brought
it
to
her
mother.
12
And
his
disciples
came,
and
took
up
the
body,
and
buried
it,
and
went
and
told
Jesus.
13
When
Jesus
heard
of
it,
he
departed
thence
by
ship
into
a
desert
place
apart:
and
when
the
people
had
heard
thereof,
they
followed
him
on
foot
out
of
the
cities.
14
And
Jesus
went
forth,
and
saw
a
great
multitude,
and
was
moved
with
compassion
toward
them,
and
he
healed
their
sick.
15
And
when
it
was
evening,
his
disciples
came
to
him,
saying,
This
is
a
desert
place,
and
the
time
is
now
past;
send
the
multitude
away,
that
they
may
go
into
the
villages,
and
buy
themselves
victuals.
16
But
Jesus
said
unto
them,
They
need
not
depart;
give
ye
them
to
eat.
17
And
they
say
unto
him,
We
have
here
but
five
loaves,
and
two
fishes.
18
He
said,
Bring
them
hither
to
me.
19
And
he
commanded
the
multitude
to
sit
down
on
the
grass,
and
took
the
five
loaves,
and
the
two
fishes,
and
looking
up
to
heaven,
he
blessed,
and
brake,
and
gave
the
loaves
to
his
disciples,
and
the
disciples
to
the
multitude.
20
And
they
did
all
eat,
and
were
filled:
and
they
took
up
of
the
fragments
that
remained
twelve
baskets
full.
21
And
they
that
had
eaten
were
about
five
thousand
men,
beside
women
and
children.
22
And
straightway
Jesus
constrained
his
disciples
to
get
into
a
ship,
and
to
go
before
him
unto
the
other
side,
while
he
sent
the
multitudes
away.
23
And
when
he
had
sent
the
multitudes
away,
he
went
up
into
a
mountain
apart
to
pray:
and
when
the
evening
was
come,
he
was
there
alone.
24
But
the
ship
was
now
in
the
midst
of
the
sea,
tossed
with
waves:
for
the
wind
was
contrary.
25
And
in
the
fourth
watch
of
the
night
Jesus
went
unto
them,
walking
on
the
sea.
26
And
when
the
disciples
saw
him
walking
on
the
sea,
they
were
troubled,
saying,
It
is
a
spirit;
and
they
cried
out
for
fear.
27
But
straightway
Jesus
spake
unto
them,
saying,
Be
of
good
cheer;
it
is
I;
be
not
afraid.
28
And
Peter
answered
him
and
said,
Lord,
if
it
be
thou,
bid
me
come
unto
thee
on
the
water.
29
And
he
said,
Come.
And
when
Peter
was
come
down
out
of
the
ship,
he
walked
on
the
water,
to
go
to
Jesus.
30
But
when
he
saw
the
wind
boisterous,
he
was
afraid;
and
beginning
to
sink,
he
cried,
saying,
Lord,
save
me.
31
And
immediately
Jesus
stretched
forth
his
hand,
and
caught
him,
and
said
unto
him,
O
thou
of
little
faith,
wherefore
didst
thou
doubt?
32
And
when
they
were
come
into
the
ship,
the
wind
ceased.
33
Then
they
that
were
in
the
ship
came
and
worshipped
him,
saying,
Of
a
truth
thou
art
the
Son
of
God.
34
And
when
they
were
gone
over,
they
came
into
the
land
of
Gennesaret.
35
And
when
the
men
of
that
place
had
knowledge
of
him,
they
sent
out
into
all
that
country
round
about,
and
brought
unto
him
all
that
were
diseased;
36
And
besought
him
that
they
might
only
touch
the
hem
of
his
garment:
and
as
many
as
touched
were
made
perfectly
whole.
Luke 9:11
11
And
the
people,
when
they
knew
it,
followed
him:
and
he
received
them,
and
spake
unto
them
of
the
kingdom
of
God,
and
healed
them
that
had
need
of
healing.

1
At
that
time
did
Herod
the
tetrarch
hear
the
fame
of
Jesus,
2
and
said
to
his
servants,
`This

John

Baptist,
he
did
rise
from
the
dead,
and
because
of
this

him.`
3
For
Herod
having
laid
hold
on
John,
did
bind
him,
and
did
put
him
in
prison,
because
of
Herodias
his
brother
Philip's
wife,
4
for
John
was
saying
to
him,
`It
is
not
lawful

thee
to
have
her,`
5
and,
willing
to
kill
him,
he
feared
the
multitude,
because
as
a
prophet
they
were
holding
him.
6
But
the
birthday
of
Herod
being
kept,
the
daughter
of
Herodias
danced
in
the
midst,
and
did
please
Herod,
7
whereupon
with
an
oath
he
professed
to
give
her
whatever
she
might
ask.
8
And
she
having
been
instigated
by
her
mother
--
`Give

she)

upon
a
plate
the
head

John
the

9
and
the
king
was
grieved,
but
because
of
the
oaths
and
of
those
reclining
with
him,
he
commanded
it
to
be
given;
10
and
having
sent,
he
beheaded
John
in
the
prison,
11
and
his
head
was
brought
upon
a
plate,
and
was
given
to
the
damsel,
and
she
brought
it
nigh
to
her
mother.
12
And
his
disciples
having
come,
took
up
the
body,
and
buried
it,
and
having
come,
they
told
Jesus,
13
and
Jesus
having
heard,
withdrew
thence
in
a
boat
to
a
desolate
place
by
himself,
and
the
multitudes
having
heard
did
follow
him
on
land
from
the
cities.
14
And
Jesus
having
come
forth,
saw
a
great
multitude,
and
was
moved
with
compassion
upon
them,
and
did
heal
their
infirm;
15
and
evening
having
come,
his
disciples
came
to
him,
saying,
`The
place
is
desolate,
and
the
hour
hath
now
past,
let
away
the
multitudes
that,
having
gone
to
the
villages,
they
may
buy
to
themselves
food.`
16
And
Jesus
said
to
them,
`They
have
no
need
to
go
away
--
give
ye
them
to
eat.`
17
And
they
say
to
him,
`We
have
not
here
except
five
loaves,
and
two
fishes.`
18
And
he
said,
`Bring
ye
them
to
me
hither.`
19
And
having
commanded
the
multitudes
to
recline
upon
the
grass,
and
having
taken
the
five
loaves
and
the
two
fishes,
having
looked
up
to
the
heaven,
he
did

and
having

the

and
the
disciples
to

20
and
they
did

and
were
filled,
and
they
took

hand-baskets
full;
21
and
those
eating
were
about
five
thousand
men,
apart
from

22
And
immediately
Jesus
constrained
his
disciples
to
go
into
the
boat,
and
to
go
before
him
to
the
other
side,
till
he
might
let
away
the
multitudes;
23
and
having
let
away
the
multitudes,
he
went
up
to
the
mountain
by
himself
to
pray,
and
evening
having
come,
he
was
there
alone,
24
and
the
boat
was
now
in
the

of
the
sea,
distressed
by
the
waves,
for
the
wind
was

25
And
in
the
fourth
watch
of
the
night
Jesus
went
away
to
them,
walking
upon
the
sea,
26
and
the
disciples
having
seen
him
walking
upon
the
sea,
were
troubled
saying
--
`It
is
an
apparition,`
and
from
the
fear
they
cried
out;
27
and
immediately
Jesus
spake
to
them,
saying,
`Be
of
good
courage,
I
am
he
,
be
not
afraid.`
28
And
Peter
answering
him
said,
`Sir,
if
it
is
thou,
bid
me
come
to
thee
upon
the
waters;`
29
and
he
said,
`Come;`
and
having
gone
down
from
the
boat,
Peter
walked
upon
the
waters
to
come
unto
Jesus,
30
but
seeing
the
wind
vehement,
he
was
afraid,
and
having
begun
to
sink,
he
cried
out,
saying,
`Sir,
save
me.`
31
And
immediately
Jesus,
having
stretched
forth
the
hand,
laid
hold
of
him,
and
saith
to
him,
`Little
faith!
for
what
didst
thou
waver?`
32
and
they
having
gone
to

those

Herod
the

the
fame

Jesus,

said
to
his

This

John
the

he
is
risen
from
the
dead;
and
therefore
mighty
works
do
show
forth
themselves
in
him.
3
For
Herod
had
laid
hold
on
John,
and
bound
him,
and
put
him
in
prison
for
Herodias'
sake,
his

For
John
said

It

And
she,
being
before
instructed
of
her

said,
Give

John

in
a

And
the
king
was
sorry:
nevertheless
for
the
oath's

at

he

his

his

came,
and
took
up
the
body,
and
buried
it,
and
went
and
told
Jesus.
13
When
Jesus
heard
of
it,
he
departed
there
by
ship
into
a
desert
place
apart:
and
when
the
people
had
heard
thereof,
they
followed
him
on
foot
out
of
the
cities.
14
And
Jesus
went
forth,
and
saw
a
great
multitude,
and
was
moved
with
compassion
toward
them,
and
he
healed
their
sick.
15
And
when
it
was
evening,
his
disciples
came
to
him,
saying,
This

a

place,
and
the
time
is
now
past;
send
the
multitude
away,
that
they
may
go
into
the
villages,
and
buy
themselves
victuals.
16
But
Jesus
said
to
them,
They
need
not
depart;
give
you
them
to
eat.
17
And
they
say
to
him,
We
have
here
but
five
loaves,
and
two
fishes.
18
He
said,
Bring
them
here
to

19
And
he
commanded
the
multitude
to
sit
down
on
the
grass,
and
took
the
five
loaves,
and
the
two
fishes,
and
looking
up
to
heaven,
he
blessed,
and
broke,
and
gave
the
loaves
to
his
disciples,
and
the
disciples
to
the
multitude.
20
And
they
did
all
eat,
and
were
filled:
and
they
took
up
of
the
fragments
that
remained
twelve
baskets
full.
21
And
they
that
had
eaten
were
about
five
thousand
men,
beside
women
and
children.
22
And
straightway
Jesus
constrained
his

when

he
went

24
But
the

Lord,

he

Come.

when
Peter

Jesus.
30
But
when
he

boisterous,
he
was
afraid;
and
beginning
to

he
cried,
saying,
Lord,
save

31
And
immediately
Jesus
stretched
forth
his
hand,
and
caught
him,
and
said
to
him,
O
you
of
little
faith,
why

Jesus'
followers
were
still
in
the
boat.
Jesus
came
to
them.
He
was
walking
on
the
water.
26
When
they
saw
him
walking
on
the
water,
it
scared
them.
"It's
a
ghost!"
they
said,
screaming
in
fear.
27
But
Jesus
quickly
spoke
to
them.
He
said,
"Don't
worry!
It's
me!
Don't
be
afraid."
28
Peter
said,
"Lord,
if
that
is
really
you,
tell
me
to
come
to
you
on
the
water."
29
Jesus
said,
"Come,
Peter."
Then
Peter
left
the
boat
and
walked
on
the
water
to
Jesus.
30
But
while
Peter
was
walking
on
the
water,
he
saw
the
wind
and
the
waves.
He
was
afraid
and
began
sinking
into
the
water.
He
shouted,
"Lord,
save
me!"
31
Then
Jesus
caught
Peter
with
his
hand.
He
said,
"Your
faith
is
small.
Why
did
you
doubt?"
32
After
Peter
and
Jesus
were
in
the
boat,
the
wind
stopped.
33
Then
the
followers
in
the
boat
worshiped
Jesus
and
said,
"You
really
are
the
Son
of
God."
34
After
they
crossed
the
lake,
they
came
to
the
shore
at
Gennesaret.
35
Some
men
there
saw
Jesus
and
knew
who
he
was.
So
they
sent
word
to
the
other
people
throughout
that
area
that
Jesus
had
come.
The
people
brought
all
their
sick
people
to
him.
36
They
begged
Jesus
to
let
them
only
touch
the
edge
of
his
coat
to
be
healed.
And
all
the
sick
people
who
touched
his
coat
were
healed.

But
the
people
learned
where
Jesus
went
and
followed
him.
He
welcomed
them
and
talked
with
them
about
God's
kingdom.
He
healed
the
people
who
were
sick.

They

and
were
walking

everywhere.
They

At
that
time
King
Herod
heard
much
about
Jesus.
2
He
said
to
his
helpers,
"This
must

John
the
Baptist.
He
has
risen
from
the

That

why
these

For
Herod
had
taken
John
and
put
him
in
prison.
It
was
because
of
Herodias,
the
wife
of
his
brother
Philip.
4
For
John
had
said
to
him,
"It
is
against
the
Law

you

have
her."
5
He
would
have
killed
John
but
he
was
afraid
of
the
people.
The
people
thought
John
was
one
who
spoke
for
God.
6
On
Herod's
birthday
the
daughter
of
Herodias
danced
in
front
of
them.
Herod
was
made
happy
by
her.
7
He
promised
he
would
give
her
anything
she
asked.
8
Because
her
mother
told
her
to
do
it,
she
said,
"Give
me
the
head
of
John
the

on
a
plate."
9
The
king
was
sorry.
But
he
said
for
it
to
be
given
because
he
had
promised
and
because
of
those
who
were

with
him.
10
He

It

told

When

He

He

His

came
to
Him.
They
said,
"This
is
a
desert.
The
day
is
past.
Send
the
people
away
so
they
may
go
into
the
towns
and
buy
food
for
themselves."
16
Jesus
said
to
them,
"They
do
not
have
to
go
away.
Give
them
something
to
eat."
17
They
said
to
Him,
"We
have
only
five
loaves
of
bread
and
two
fish."
18
Jesus
said,
"Bring
them
to
Me."
19
He
told
the
people
to
sit
down
on
the
grass.
Then
He
took
the
five
loaves
of
bread
and
two
fish.
He
looked
up
to
heaven
and
gave
thanks.
He
broke
the
loaves
in
pieces
and
gave
them
to
His
followers.
The
followers
gave
them
to
the
people.
20
They
all
ate
and
were
filled.
They
picked
up
twelve
baskets
full
of
pieces
of
bread
and
fish
after
the
people
were
finished
eating.
21
About
five
thousand
men
ate.
Women
and
children
ate
also.

Jesus

He
told

Peter

29
Jesus
said,
"Come!"
Peter
got
out
of
the
boat
and
walked
on
the
water
to
Jesus.
30
But
when
he
saw
the
strong
wind,
he
was
afraid.
He
began
to
go
down
in
the
water.
He
cried
out,
"Lord,
save
me!"
31
At
once
Jesus
put
out
His
hand
and
took
hold
of
him.
Jesus
said
to
Peter,
"You
have
so
little
faith!
Why
did
you
doubt?"
32
When
Jesus
and
Peter
got
into
the
boat,
the
wind
stopped
blowing.
33
Those
in
the
boat
worshiped
Jesus.
They
said,
"For
sure,
You
are
the

of
God!"

Sometime

Herod

Herod
did
this

of
Herodias,

John

satisfied.
And
they
took
up
the
left
over
pieces,
twelve
hand-baskets
full.
21
And
the
ones
eating
were
about
five
thousand
men,
besides
women
and
children.
22
And
immediately
Jesus
made
His
disciples
get
into
a
boat
and
to
go
before
Him
to
the
other
side
until
He
should
dismiss
the
crowds.
23
And
having
dismissed
the
crowds,
He
went
up
into
the
mountain
alone
to
pray.
And
evening
coming
on,
He
was
there
alone.
24
But
the
boat
was
now
in
the
middle
of
the
sea,
tossed
by
the
waves,
for
the
wind
was
contrary.
25
But
in
the
fourth
watch
of
the
night,
Jesus
went
out
to
them,
walking
on
the
sea.
26
And
seeing
Him
walking
on
the
sea,
the
disciples
were
troubled,
saying,
It
is
a
phantom!
And
they
cried
out
from
the
fear.
27
But
immediately
Jesus
spoke
to
them,
saying,
Be
comforted!
I
AM!
Do
not
fear.
28
And
answering
Him,
Peter
said,
Lord,
if
it
is
You,
command
me
to
come
to
You
on
the
waters.
29
And
He
said,
Come!
And
going
down
from
the
boat,
Peter
walked
on
the
waters
to
go
to
Jesus.
30
But
seeing
the
wind
strong,
he
was
afraid,
and
beginning
to
sink,
he
cried
out,
saying,
Lord,
save
me!
31
And
immediately
stretching
out
the
hand,
Jesus
took
hold
of
him,
and
said
to
him,
Little-faith,
why
did
you
doubt?
32
And
coming
into
the
boat,
the
wind
ceased.
33
And
those
in
the
boat
came
and
worshiped
Him,
saying,
Truly,
You
are
the
Son
of
God.
34
And
having
passed
over,
they
came
to
the
land
of
Gennesaret.
35
And
recognizing
Him,
the
men
of
that
place
sent
to
all
that
neighborhood,
and
brought
to
Him
all
those
badly
ill.
36
And
they
begged
Him
that
they
might
touch
the
fringe
of
His
robe.
And
as
many
as
touched
were
cured.
Luke 9:11
11
But
knowing
this,
the
crowds
followed
Him.
And
having
received
them,
He
spoke
to
them
about
the
kingdom
of
God.
And
He
cured
those
having
need
of
healing.

Matthew 9:36
36
When
He
saw
the
crowds,
He
felt
compassion
for
them,
because
they
were
weary
and
worn
out,
like
sheep
without
a
shepherd.

1
At
that
time
Herod
the
tetrarch
heard
the
report
about
Jesus.
2
"This
is
John
the
Baptist!"
he
told
his
servants.
"He
has
been
raised
from
the
dead,
and
that's
why
supernatural
powers
are
at
work
in
him."
3
For
Herod
had
arrested
John,
chained
him,
and
put
him
in
prison
on
account
of
Herodias,
his
brother
Philip's
wife,
4
since
John
had
been
telling
him,
"It's
not
lawful
for
you
to
have
her!"
5
Though
he
wanted
to
kill
him,
he
feared
the
crowd,
since
they
regarded
him
as
a
prophet.
6
But
when
Herod's
birthday
celebration
came,
Herodias'
daughter
danced
before
them
and
pleased
Herod.
7
So
he
promised
with
an
oath
to
give
her
whatever
she
might
ask.
8
And
prompted
by
her
mother,
she
answered,
"Give
me
John
the
Baptist's
head
here
on
a
platter!"
9
Although
the
king
regretted
it,
he
commanded
that
it
be
granted
because
of
his
oaths
and
his
guests.
10
So
he
sent
orders
and
had
John
beheaded
in
the
prison.
11
His
head
was
brought
on
a
platter
and
given
to
the
girl,
who
carried
it
to
her
mother.
12
Then
his
disciples
came,
removed
the
corpse,
buried
it,
and
went
and
reported
to
Jesus.
13
When
Jesus
heard
about
it,
He
withdrew
from
there
by
boat
to
a
remote
place
to
be
alone.
When
the
crowds
heard
this,
they
followed
Him
on
foot
from
the
towns.
14
As
He
stepped
ashore,
He
saw
a
huge
crowd,
felt
compassion
for
them,
and
healed
their
sick.
15
When
evening
came,
the
disciples
approached
Him
and
said,
"This
place
is
a
wilderness,
and
it
is
already
late.
Send
the
crowds
away
so
they
can
go
into
the
villages
and
buy
food
for
themselves."
16
"They
don't
need
to
go
away,"
Jesus
told
them.
"You
give
them
something
to
eat."
17
"But
we
only
have
five
loaves
and
two
fish
here,"
they
said
to
Him.
18
"Bring
them
here
to
Me,"
He
said.
19
Then
He
commanded
the
crowds
to
sit
down
on
the
grass.
He
took
the
five
loaves
and
the
two
fish,
and
looking
up
to
heaven,
He
blessed
them.
He
broke
the
loaves
and
gave
them
to
the
disciples,
and
the
disciples
gave
them
to
the
crowds.
20
Everyone
ate
and
was
filled.
Then
they
picked
up
12
baskets
full
of
leftover
pieces!
21
Now
those
who
ate
were
about
5,000
men,
besides
women
and
children.
22
Immediately
He
made
the
disciples
get
into
the
boat
and
go
ahead
of
Him
to
the
other
side,
while
He
dismissed
the
crowds.
23
After
dismissing
the
crowds,
He
went
up
on
the
mountain
by
Himself
to
pray.
When
evening
came,
He
was
there
alone.
24
But
the
boat
was
already
over
a
mile
from
land,
battered
by
the
waves,
because
the
wind
was
against
them.
25
Around
three
in
the
morning,
He
came
toward
them
walking
on
the
sea.
26
When
the
disciples
saw
Him
walking
on
the
sea,
they
were
terrified.
"It's
a
ghost!"
they
said,
and
cried
out
in
fear.
27
Immediately
Jesus
spoke
to
them.
"Have
courage!
It
is
I.
Don't
be
afraid."
28
"Lord,
if
it's
You,"
Peter
answered
Him,
"command
me
to
come
to
You
on
the
water."
29
"Come!"
He
said.
And
climbing
out
of
the
boat,
Peter
started
walking
on
the
water
and
came
toward
Jesus.
30
But
when
he
saw
the
strength
of
the
wind,
he
was
afraid.
And
beginning
to
sink
he
cried
out,
"Lord,
save
me!"
31
Immediately
Jesus
reached
out
His
hand,
caught
hold
of
him,
and
said
to
him,
"You
of
little
faith,
why
did
you
doubt?"
32
When
they
got
into
the
boat,
the
wind
ceased.
33
Then
those
in
the
boat
worshiped
Him
and
said,
"Truly
You
are
the
Son
of
God!"
34
Once
they
crossed
over,
they
came
to
land
at
Gennesaret.
35
When
the
men
of
that
place
recognized
Him,
they
alerted
the
whole
vicinity
and
brought
to
Him
all
who
were
sick.
36
They
were
begging
Him
that
they
might
only
touch
the
tassel
on
His
robe.
And
as
many
as
touched
it
were
made
perfectly
well.
Luke 9:11
11
When
the
crowds
found
out,
they
followed
Him.
He
welcomed
them,
spoke
to
them
about
the
kingdom
of
God,
and
cured
those
who
needed
healing.
